This policy explains how Sewcial Dancer (“we”, “us”) handles personal data when you use sewcialdancer.com.

Data We Collect & How We Collect It

  • "Request a piece" & contact messages: Name, email address, message, and optional newsletter consent. Submissions are stored in our secure CMS database so we can reply.
  • Newsletter signups: Your email address (and double opt-in confirmation token). This is stored in Sender.net and our system to deliver updates.
  • Calculator access: Session tokens or short-lived cookies stored locally in your browser to remember that you unlocked a calculator.
  • Calculator measurements: Numbers you enter into pattern calculators are processed purely inside your browser. We do not collect or store your personal body measurements on our servers.
  • Anonymous site stats: Daily usage counts stored in our CMS. These are aggregated numbers with no IP tracking or personal profiles attached.
  • Technical data: Server logs (such as IP address and browser type) collected automatically by our hosting provider for security and system stability.


Why We Use Your Data & Legal Basis

  • Newsletter & Updates: To send you sewing guides, pattern updates, and news (Legal basis: Consent via opt-in and double opt-in; you can unsubscribe anytime).
  • Contact & Piece Requests: To respond to your inquiries or discuss custom orders (Legal basis: Legitimate interest / Pre-contractual steps).
  • Calculator Access: To verify access to paid pattern tools or newsletter perks (Legal basis: Performance of a service / Contract).
  • Anonymous Stats & Hosting Logs: To maintain website security, prevent abuse, and understand general feature popularity (Legal basis: Legitimate interest).


What We Never Do

We believe in complete privacy and transparency:

  • We never sell, rent, or trade your personal data.
  • We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or Google Analytics.
  • We do not track your behavior across other websites or build personal advertising profiles.


Storage & Cookies on Your Device

  • Session Storage / Local Tokens: Used solely to keep your active calculator session unlocked in your browser (cleared when you close the tab or after ~30 days for unlocked links).
  • Strictly Necessary Cookies: Essential technical cookies set by our hosting provider (Vercel) for security and site routing.

You can clear cookies and local storage at any time through your browser settings.


Third-Party Processors

We share data only with trusted providers necessary to run this platform:

  • Vercel Inc. (USA): Website hosting and server security logs.
  • Payload CMS / vk-webdesign (Hetzner, Germany): Database host for website content, contact messages, and aggregated usage counts.
  • Sender (sender.net): Email marketing software used to manage newsletter subscriber lists and double opt-in confirmations.
  • Etsy: When you click through to complete a purchase, Etsy’s privacy policy and checkout terms apply.
  • Instagram: When you click external links to view our social media profile.

Data transfers outside the EU (such as to US-based infrastructure) are governed by appropriate GDPR safeguards, including standard contractual clauses.


Data Retention

  • Newsletter subscribers: Kept on Sender.net until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
  • Contact & piece requests: Kept in our CMS for as long as necessary to answer your inquiry and fulfill your request, then archived or deleted.
  • Calculator session data: Cleared upon tab closure or expiration of the 30-day access token.
  • Server security logs: Retained briefly by Vercel for system protection before automatic deletion.
  • Anonymous usage counts: Daily aggregate metrics containing no personal data.


Your Rights (GDPR)

Under EU data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you.
  • Restrict or object to how we process your information.
  • Withdraw consent at any time (e.g., clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any newsletter).
